Some have called me a visionary, some say "a dreamer", and others just call me crazy. No matter the title I'm given, I've learned that my crazy dreams are often the start of a beautiful reality. Is anything too big for our God? Is anything impossible with Christ? Of course not! So why not dream? Ask Joseph about that. I am sure he will attest to the fact that dreams lead to realities!
It started with Ezekiel Farms...actually, it started with the Lord saying, "I want to give you this land." Then I had a faint and very unclear glimpse of a ministry. That promise has never left my heart. "I want to give you this land." Over time dreams and visions from the past collided with the dreams and visions of today and Ezekiel Farms was born. Here is a quick rundown of what the Ezekiel Farms dream is:
Ezekiel Farms will host at least 7 foster homes on one shared property. Unlike an orphanage which gives the feeling of being institutionalized, Eziekiel Farms offers actual homes with family. This is a community of families working together to raise up these kids in a loving and supportive environment.
The main home will house older kids who are transitioning out of foster care to provide the permanency they need for a stable transition into adulthood. They will be taught life and job skills and longingly guided into their next steps in life.
The farmland will be shared by all families. They work together to care for crops and livestock, which provides food and income for the community. The children will learn job and life skills including how to be interdependent within the community. Families gather for meals in the main house as meal preparation and clean-up are shared between each member. This creates a strong feeling of family and belonging. Foster Families are strengthened and encouraged as the work together rather than alone.
Ok, so now that you have an idea of Ezekiel Farms, not imagine this: Ezekiel Farms and Camp RESET get married! (cue in wedding bells and music). It costs us between $26,000 - $45,000 every camp! That is a lot of money. Not waisted money of course, but could it be better utilized? I say, yes! If we could secure land to run Ezekiel Farms, we could build up that land to be able to host Camp RESET. Our land ~ not renting a campground. That means the $26,000 - $45,000 staying with us and can go towards an amazing week of camp, our ministry, and building up our land. All of our families who have shown interest in being foster families with Ezekiel Farms are also Camp RESET volunteers. We will work where we live. Our kids will be attending camp. This is a win/win for us all. Even better, the programs we would like to implement but have not found a location to hold: such as FIN (Family Interaction Night), Art Classes, Cooking Classes and more, could all be held at Ezekiel Farms. One place. One home. One land. That my friends is my dream!
And now, we need prayer warriors praying this into existence. We need donors, volunteers, visionaries like me! WE NEED YOU! So, pray about it. How you can you help? Can you write grants? Do you have land we can use? Do you build structures? Can you set up zip lines? Do you know how to get this funded (big one right there)? We need everyone. It will take a community. This project will also bring a lot of healing to our community, our families, and our children! So, will join us? Just reach out and let us know what you would like to do: info@campresetyourlife.com
